Why I started building Kincya

RL

Raymond Luck

Founder and solo developer

Built around a real problem at home.

Most weeks, the questions are pretty simple: What are we eating, what do we already have, and what do I actually need to buy?

Recipes were in one place, the meal plan was somewhere else, and the shopping list usually ended up in another app or note.

As a Single Co-Parent for the last 12 years, I wanted a simpler way to keep track of what we planned to eat, what was already in the pantry, and what still needed to be bought. I could not find one tool that connected those pieces the way I wanted, so I started building it.

Kincya is still being shaped through real use and feedback. The goal is not to add every possible feature—it is to make everyday kitchen planning less scattered and easier to keep up with.

Available in the Alpha

What you can try today.

Kincya is still being tested and improved, but the core meal-planning, pantry, recipe, and shopping workflow is already available to early testers.

Some features and layouts may change as I learn what works well and what still gets in the way.

01

Save and organize recipes

Keep ingredients, servings, preparation details, and instructions together.

02

Plan meals across the week

Add recipes and meal options to a weekly calendar instead of deciding everything at the last minute.

03

Track what is already in the pantry

Record pantry quantities and see what your kitchen may already cover.

04

Build shopping lists from planned meals

Turn the ingredients from your meal plan into a practical shopping list.

05

Review pantry matches

Check uncertain ingredient matches before anything is added or removed automatically.

06

Use optional nutrition tools

Track calories, macros, water, weight, and workouts when those tools support your goals.

More than a basic meal planner

Keep the whole kitchen workflow together.

Each feature supports the same workflow instead of operating like a separate tool.

Recipes + Meal Planning

Plan from meals you actually cook.

Your recipe collection becomes the foundation for a clearer weekly plan.

Build a useful recipe collection

Store servings, ingredients, preparation details, and instructions needed for planning.

See what is coming next

Plan upcoming meals, review the week in a calendar, and mark meals cooked.

Pantry + Shopping

Know what you have before you shop.

Pantry information and planned meals work together to create a more practical shopping list.

Track what is already at home

Maintain quantities, review stock alerts, and reduce duplicate purchases.

Generate smarter shopping lists

Compare planned ingredients against pantry inventory and review uncertain matches.

Personalization + Optional Nutrition

Shape Kincya around your household.

Use the parts of Kincya that support your routine while keeping optional tools out of the way when you do not need them.

Personalize your experience

Use onboarding, dashboard customization, profiles, preferences, and goal-based recommendations.

Connect meals with personal goals

Enable calories, macros, workouts, and weight progress when nutrition tools are useful to you.

When plans change

Dinner changed? The rest of the plan should change with it.

Swap a meal, check which ingredients are still covered, and keep the shopping list in sync instead of rebuilding it by hand.

Move a meal without rebuilding the whole week.

See which ingredients are still covered by the pantry.

Keep the shopping list updated as plans move around.

A note while testing

“I like being able to plan a meal, see what is already in the pantry, and understand what still needs to go on the shopping list without piecing it together in several different places.”
